Artist Statement
My journey with art is expressed through a symbiotic relationship with representational and nonrepresentational contemporary abstract art, at times incorporating the use of metal and recycled materials to form sculptural art, deliberately creating beauty out of discarded items in an attempt to solve the human condition of being a throwaway society.
Maintaining a balance between bold, vibrant and thickly painted brush-strokes, to soft fluid strokes resembling watercolor, my paintings set the stage for creative conversations.
My art creations clearly demonstrate my love and passionate response to the nature of The Pacific Northwest, that has influenced how I view the world. It takes on the emotions that I experience through nature, creating a visual path, much like wandering through a field of flowers.
Each painting is established through a sense of excitement, peace, joy, and hope for our world, and reflects such, taking the viewer on a journey with "A Brush with Beauty."
Artist Bio
Visual artist Ruby R Scott was born in the State of Idaho and has a home there; She met her husband and raised a family in the State of Washington and currently resides in Texas. Ruby maintains personal and professional connections to the States of Idaho, Washington, and Texas. She splits her time between the three states.
Ruby, a published artist, has painted for many years, and opened a working studio gallery located in East Downtown Houston’s Cultural Arts District, Silver Street Studios, Suite 218, the largest arts district in the nation.
As a contemporary acrylic artist she creates large‑scale, luxury artworks spanning both representational and non‑representational abstract styles. Her practice often incorporates upcycled materials, transforming discarded objects into sophisticated visual statements, demonstrating her commitment to forging beauty from what society often overlooks. By using renewable resources, she aims to counter the culture of disposability and model a more sustainable creative process.
She maintains memberships with HVAN, WiVLA, The Houston Club, and the VAA. She has facilitated art enrichment courses and has been selected and participated in many juried shows, artist residencies, countless exhibitions and solo exhibitions, both on a national and international level. Her work has been exhibited throughout the US, attracting both residential and corporate collectors.
